So, I've downloaded the skype program, and installed it. However, when I made a test call, I could barely hear my voice. Any suggestions/ideas on how to improve my microphone settings...that's probably what it is right? Also, are their any scripts for jaws and skype? I tried to create a profile, but all I could really get out of the deal was *edit, type of text* gr'r'r'r'r'r'r'owl!!! Any help and stuff would be great here! Thanks everyone!!!

yup, there are scripts for skype which you can get from http://www.panix.com/~ccn/projects/jfw/skype.php.
As for improving the audio quality, check the microphone volume in the windows volume control.

As for the microphone stuff, go into volume control, click the options menu, and click properties. select recording, and click ok. make sure the show advanced options is checked in the optins menu. Also make sure the check box for microphone is checked. you can ajust your microphone level in the box that mentions mic volume. also, under the advanced button, you may wish to check the microphone boost check box. Hope that helps. :) If you want more explanation of what I've said here, feel free to contact me, and I'll try to explain more/further.

skype is a pretty good program. i have it. but it uses a heck of a lot of bandwidth so i don't use it much. i am always downloading media and need as much bandwidth as i can get. but i do like it although the newer one has better sound quality, it also sucks because u have to be a conference host to add people. in the old one anyone can add up to 4 people each but that one pops up an update message everytime u log in even if u have updates disabled

That Skype webpage accounts for something like a quarter of monthly trafic for my entire site.

does anyone reccomend any particular mic/headset to use? I think I'm going to have to go buy one bc I've been trying to use the one on my computer, but it's just not that good I don't think. Some one suggested I buy a headset so my mic and speakers don't echo or something. Any suggestions...? Feel free to share!!!

Whoever recommended you get a headset/mic combo must have been pretty smart.

ok need to pick the brains of the skype geeks ... I downloaded and installed skype the other night, however, although I can hear the user on the other end, they are unable to hear me at all. my mike is enabled, max volume, plugged in (well I wouldn't be the first to swear at my mike and it not be plugged in, *grins*), I know I have audio on my pc because I can record through cakewalk and it's not a problem, but skype just won't let me. any ideas? or is it just destined not to be. cheers.

Change the mic and try again. There might be something wrong with the mic you are now using so check that frst before assuming it's a problem with the program. Star
